Jimmy possum chairs
My first attempts at Jimmy possum chairs .. had fun making these and learned quite a bit about the construction peculiar to these chairs from Deloraine in Tassie

Nice work, Sheddy, have you had a look at the Jimmy Possums in TMAG and at the Design Centre in Launceston?

Hi Graeme ,yes I have checked the Deloraine collection ,and one in Hobart museum .. mine I made from kiln dried tas oak , draw knifed and spoke shaved … been trying to source some suitable green logs to split as green is so much easier and more authentic to work . Tried stringy ,was terrible .. been told I need to get silver wattle or peppermint . Hopefully get hold of some soon ,cheers Gordon

For some reason the images no longer open 😟
Did you follow an set plans or information on how to make the chair. I’m keen to give one a go but the legs passing through the seat confuse me (although these days that does take much).
Chris

JP chair making
Hi Chris ,I pretty much made my construction methods up as I went along .checked out the angles from pics of chairs on the net . The two most important angles for my chairs are 72 degrees for rear leg through seat ,and 12 degrees for back rails through rear of seat .These seem to give me the look I’m after . The first one took a while but I can now make other variations reasonably easily ,good luck with your ,cheers Gordon

Thanks for the pics and angles, I will try and give it a crack in the near future.
They certainly look fun to make!
