Junkboy"s Play room. Shed
Welcome to my shed ( shop )
Let me start of by saying sorry Dingo and others, but I did clean it before I took the pictures for this post. This is my biyearly cleaning. I clean it out before winter hits, and a good cleaning when summer gets here. To start out with, this is the garage as I got it. The bottom floor is 29’ 5" deep and 23’ 4" so it is 686.38 Sq feet or 63.7 m2. The up stairs is 29’5" by 15’11" , 468 Sq feet or 43.49 m2. The top width is from the 2X4’s coming down from the from the joist. I will be putting shelf and cabinets inbetween them when I get time and money.
Picture 1 is the out side with a fresh new coat of paint. The top barn type door is wide enough for me to winch up a sheet of plywood.
Picture 2 is the back wall and the right wall. There is a old greasy "L" shaped work bench built in to the wall.
Picture 3 is the back wall and the left wall. There was a double maple top bench all the way along the left wall and a gas furnace above it. Some one stole it while the house set empty for a year before I bought it.
Picture 4 is the up stairs. I just use this for storage and a finishing room. Not much dust gets up there. There is one light and one outlet.
Picture 5 is the bottom floor again looking from the stairs. Here you can see where the left bench was. The guy that use to own the house ( 2 owners back ) built the garage and lives down the street. He told me about the bench and heater being stolen a few weeks before I bough it.
Now this is what I call a clean shop.. None of the dirty old tools making it look all messy.JunkBoy999

wow! awesome amount of space, Terry. Where'd all your tools go?
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

G'day Junkboy999,
With all that room you've got plenty of space to fill with some beaut machinery. Nasty stuff having the bench nicked from the place before you bought it. First on the list - build a bench.
Mmmm, gotta love sheds.

Terry,
WOW! Mate, that is a shed & a Half! You could hire it out for Basket Ball trainning & still have room for wood work. At first glance, I thought it was the New Yanky Workshop.
As Zen Said, Where are the tools?
TickyThe fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Thats absolutely awesome. I feel as green as when Sturdee shows off his workshop. So that's Kansas, but the road don't look yellow and where's Dorothy?
Over here that type of building is called a Quaker Barn and can be bought in kit form.
Yours is the first two storey shed I've heard of. Like the others I'm interested to know where all the tools went?Bodgy

Much bigger than mine Terry. Looking at the shed makes me think that your name of Junkboy is misnamed.
I feel just as green as Bodgy looking at all that space and headroom. Looking forward to the next instalment.

This is the only way to really get your shed clean. first you have to remove everything. This allows you to get a good sweep in. Just gotta watch the people driving by thinking your having a yard sale. This is how the shed was before the moving van came. I had them drop every thing in there but the Bed, computer, and the TV them 2 weeks later off to the Desert for a 90 trip
Waldo
Ya I love the room. With no SHMBO worrying about how big the kitchen is and how many baths the house has, I was able to get Fixer-up-ER with a shop I wall ways wanted.
Ticky
The New Yanky Workshop it is not but I would love to have a great shop like that and have Norm standing by showing me mew tricks.
Bodgy
Yep this is Kansas. I haven't seen Dorothy or the yellow brick road. One thing for sure I not looking forward to seeing a Tornado either. And if Sturdee had this much space can you just imagine how much stuff he could squeeze in there
Oges
Thanks. As far as a small shops goes, I can show you pic of me working in the driveway where I lived in a house with 4 other GI’s, or working on my car in the parking lot of a Dorm, or my router table in the bathroom of a one bedroom apartment. I wanted this and I going flaunt it.
Sturdee
Thanks. I think I have read just about every one of your post and still amazed ever time I read them again I’ll let you use the top of my shop, plenty of room up there that is not being used at the moment

Hi Terry,
Fantastic looking, and VERY big (two storey!!) shed you have there. I'm green
You might need a furnace though, as I believe it can get a little, ahem!, cool in winter thereabouts...
Good luck in filling all that lovely space
Cheers!

Quick over view and shop layout.
1. Ryobi 6" disk 4" belt sander. Little under powered but still works like a tank.
2. 10" General Machinery disk sander
3. Ryobi Spindle sander. This saves me a lot of time.
4. 20x27 small home made down draft sanding table.
5. 6x98" home made belt sander. Cost me about 250$ US to build and really removes stock
6. Delta variable speed scroll saw. Bought on clearance for minor scratches. Works great.
7. 48x18 Rolling Commercial grade wire rack shelves. Racks are good for not holding dust.
8. 32x12 press board storage shelves. I keep wood books here and others.
9. 2 HP compressor ( dead in the water )
10. Robber made trash can with a Brute dust collection top on it for large chip collection
11. Jet 1 ½ HP Dust Collection
12. Wooden tool box to hold small tools and music instrument set up tools.
13. Plastic storage bins. used for reclaimed hardware and new bulk screws.
14. 2 cheap grinders, This gives me two course, one med. and one fine stone.
15. 2 small metal table vices.( needs to be remounted )
16. 8" Delta table top Drill press. I would love to get a full floor model for wood working only.
17. 41"x12 Stainless steel Rolling tool box for machines tool
18. Wooden rack that holds 13 small parts storage bins ( plastic fishing tackle box style )
19. Harbor Tools 62" blade Vertical / horizontal medal band saw. real time saver.
20. Hand truck dolly, ladders and rollers storage.
21. Clamp wall for holding Quick Grip style clamps
22. Bar clamp storage

26. Grizzly 17" 2 HP Bandsaw
27. 12" portable planner and stand
28. Router table with Rockler Top and Route-U-Lift System

I always was of the opinion that my 6m x 12m was more than adequate...Haaaaaaaaaa
Wrong, I've managed to fill it and now need more room.
A broom and licenced operator wouldn't go astray though.
Nice looking shed JB, I have seen them here but that design is not the most popular with the American barn being flavour of the month at the moment.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Guess I'm lucky

Yes. I will be putting in a furnace when money permits. I leaning to one made by the company MODINE and is called "Hot Dawg" Not sure what you guys / gals are using for your sheds if heated at all.
Harry 72, Wongo, Iain
Looks can be deceiving. The pic’s of the empty shop where taken with my Minolta and a 28 mm lens, almost a "fish eye" Although there is a lot of room the shop suffers from a condition called Maximus-Spaces-Cramus. In layman's terms, The more space you have, the more stuff you cram in there, reducing the space you have, increasing your want for more space so you can get more stuff to ..... you get the picture. Iain knows what I’m talking about.
Guess I’m lucky.
As far as the shape of the shop. It was the rage a few years back. There are 4 on my block. Two of them are smaller and one is huge The guys that build this shop, built it with a shop in mind. There are 18, 110v outlets, Natural gas fitting, and Phone. I have added the 220 V for the band saw, the cable, video line, and the Air line
Pic1. This is another board Pic showing the location for all the goodies. The 110 outlets in the open space are mounted on the ceiling for lights or drop down power leads.
Pic.2 & 3 shows what the video line is for. I can watch the glue dry in the shop while watching This old house or the New Yankee WorkshopJunkBoy999

Helloo Hellooo hellloo hello
Hey what's with the echo Terry!! You'll have to fill the shed with that big list of drool toys to get rid of the echo. Bet you are going to have fun doing that.
Cheers
