    Default Krenov Inspired Wedding Present

    Gday again!

    Made this for one of my wifes very close friends.
    Timbers in it are Tassie Oak, Jarrah, Rosewood, i think Maple for the door panels, and Bamboo for the door frames.
    The legs I have no idea, came off an old board and I dont know what they are.

    The shelving was a decision after the cabinet was made and is removable with the rosewood cleats. they are the same as the door panel timber.

    Coated so far with 1 coat of Danish oil (rubbed on with cloth)
    Im not very experienced with coatings and im afraid to touch it with anything else haha, any advice appreciated.

    This project is possible thanks to my new Tradetools 12" table saw

    I'm ignorant of the significance of "Krenov" Have no idea who that refers to but that space left open in the door panelling is absolutely inspired. What an amazing look. Is that part of the Krenov look or your idea?
    Top job. I love the look and I'm not normally one who looks twice at non-traditional furniture design.

    James Krenov was a furniture maker/author whos signature item was this style cabinet on thin legs.
    Ive always wanted to make a cabinet like his and this one is only the first i hope
    James Krenov direct has alittle bit of info on it about his work

    Thank you for that. Having now had the opportunity to see some of your inspiration's work, it's clear you have certainly honoured the man and captured the essence of his style.
    However, it would appear the missing areas of the door panels was yours. If this is the case, then I can only repeat. The idea is inspired.

    Very kind words

    The panels i used for the door were from a Luthieran (spelling?) friend of mine.
    They were cut from the same board and I flipped one 180' so to give the "river" flowing through the doors. I think there maple but I havent the foggiest :P

    Nice work, TP, I agree, the panels flowing with the grain really sets it off.
