Learner hand tool project - towel rack
Another learner project for me............A simple dual towel rack but once again, the only power tool used was a drill.
Learnings?
The wood all came from a small piece of painted 2x4 ex pergola karri/jarrah(?). After planing 4square the peice had to be resawn (approx 10mm thick). After three goes ruining pieces with the Ryoba saw I'm starting to learn how to get the thing to cut straight. I also learnt that I need a block plane. Taking shavings of a wallet sized piece of timber with a #4 is a pain in the @$$. Twas worth it though the timber has a beautiful glassy feel.
Apologies for the terrible photo. But I'm at work now and I cant take another one!Cheers,
Adam

P.S. Adam. I got a #18, great plane, adjustable mouth just luv it. Also A Veritas low angle, based on the #65, adjustable mouth, just luv it.
Keep an eye on ebay, #18 & 19 come up a bit #65 sometimes.Boring signature time again!

Unfortunately you dont see HNT Gordon planes very often.
The truth is rowan, I get absolutely no enjoyment out of using power tools. I'm quite happy taking it slow and doing stuff by hand. When my skill level outgrows my handtools, maybe I'll get a router and table saw to allow me to build bigger furniture pieces.Cheers,
Adam
