Letterbox
Very hesitant posting this when the standard of others' work is always so high, but here goes.....postbox in blackbutt and blue gum and aluminium pivoting lid. Behind the glass inlay that the numbers are on are a couple of led's that have been canibalised from a solar garden light, so at night they automatically come on and outline the numbers (suprisingly bright in the prototype, can only hope that my rewiring is OK). Its been wired so that the solar panel can be placed away from the letterbox, as it would stick out like dog's b*lls on the lid and can also be placed in a sunnier position. Finish is 4 coats of F&W Marine Spar, probably not what I would have used if it were for me (pressie for the inlaws).

Nice work Ramus - and for the inlaws too
It's coming up to Guy Faulkes too - can't wait to see what a 3d bunger does to it
Sorry was just a thought from my misguided youth

Ramus, a very impressive job and a great design, you must be quite keen on your outlaws, or your wife is really special! Well done, I will file the design away for when my own letterbox falls to bits.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Inlaws loved it so much that they promptly went to Bunnies and got me a planer/thicknesser as thanks! That then prompted my fiance to lash out and get me a table saw too. Both GMC which will suffice for now (these being my first "serious" tools) and will make a nice addition to the shed space that I have been graciously allocated in the new house we move to in a couple of weeks. Not having a shed has been a NIGHTMARE.
