I dont have the energy to argue the points one by one but suffice to say I dont agree and suspect that in all things you are just a little bit more right than everyone else and no doubt run a sucessful business of your own.

Duno why your getting all grumpy and saying you dont have the energy to "argue" Who`s arguing?.... You posted a thread for people to reply to. Obviously i dont know about you or your business, just the words... "Looks like I will be closing the doors after this job is done. No more customers so I have to find a "real" job to pay the bills"

All i said its a marketing issue with all woodies, that includes you, me and everyone else in this business. I struggled for years (and in some regards still am) untill a sucsessful maker sat me down to explain exactly the same thing. Its all about promoting yourself and business. thats all. So if you dont agree with that, fine, just leave it at that. And as i said in an earlier post, what ever you go on to do, good luck with it

    Different,
Maybe Lignum needs a little sanding down to remove a few rough edges & maybe I am not the one to say so, having my own rough edges, But I do think old Lig has a vaid point. When you posted the thread, you did receive a fair bit of "sorry to hear that" & "you poor bugger" style of replies. You also had a lot of people offering ideas & moral support in an effort to see you NOT give up, but rather find another way. Making cutting boards may not stimulate your creative mind, in fact it's probably degrading to a man with your talent. But the cold hard fact is, you can make them out of off cuts & sell them for ten bucks each and that is called business.

Reading through the entire thread, which I have done several times, I would have thought you may have been at least a little inspired by what some of these people have offered, but you seem to find a way of rejecting all help.

I'm sure it would be nice to go back to the good old days, but in the good old days, you would not have received inspiration from all over the country & possibly the world for that matter. It's no good wishing for time gone mate, even the present don't last long before it becomes history.

I don't mind if you want to tell me I'm wrong too, or tear me a new one. But before you do, please, for your own sake, go back & read the entire thread again.

The fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Mate I think you just pushed a couple of wrong buttons at the wrong time and you took a few things to literally and not as I intended readers to take them.
I too have had a couple of sucessful makers "sit me down" and the message I always got was do what you do best and hang in there!

Tell me about it. It is not too bad when we actually get rain and hence grass but we have no more grass and that means buying hay etc.
