Maloof Inspired Music Stand
I only just learnt about Sam Maloof in the last few months. I had a go at creating a music stand similar to ones he would make.

oh yes - very lovely and I can see elements of Maloof in it as well. Will it be an item you will keep and use or keep and admire, or will you sell it or gift it?
cheers

A music teacher friend has expressed interest in owning it but we haven't come to an agreement.
It's my first real piece of furniture and I will be definality making more. I love the way Mr Maloof's furniture looks. It's very graceful and beautiful. I've found a new hero
As for selling things like this, how do you put a price on it?

I too am a big fan of Sam Maloof. That is a fine piece of work. It looks just right. Is that Spotted Gum?
Don't settle for anything less than $600-$700.

Beautiful piece of work. I would be proud to have made it (or own it for that matter)!

Thanks
I am looking forward to getting more involved in this forum as well.
And yes...it is spotted gum - good eye! Although I've estimated there are about 20 pieces that make up the base and legs.
Any opinions on using solid timber vs laminating it?

laminating timber could give strength benefits in areas where the grain of timber in a solid piece might be weaker (than a laminated piece) due to the pressure on that point.
