    Default Marri Dining Table

The first of two marri dining tables
    L3000 x W1200 x D50
Due to the size of these tables i decided to buy a used surcare Sander smf200
Surcare Australia - Surcare Australia - Home of the world's best true random orbital sanding and microfinishing machines
which means i am able to sand in 1/2 the time and a lot less wear and tear on me
    thanks for looking

    Default Marri table

    Nice work Dazza!
Certainly is a beautiful timber, what joint did you use for your centre rail in between your two leg pieces?
The surcare sander sure looks pretty interesting, cant say I have seen one before, roughly how many $$ for one of those?
    Cheers Bruce.

    Default marri table

    Hey Dazza,
Yeah I thought it may have been dominos or similar, I had a feeling the surcare wouldnt be cheap but they look good for a large sanding area to greatly reduce time and effort. Sounds like you got a good buy

Hi Dazza, am very new to this so excuse the possibly naive question but I'm attempting a marri book shelf and am wondering what you use to fill the knots/saplines?

The table looks fantastic - hopefully I can achieve a similar look!

    Cheers, Ben

Thanks for the quick reply Dazza,

If I'm right then the 69 is more of an adhesive, and the PF sets very rapidly (pot life 3mins!) so do you use mostly the H rapid set? Are there specific crack/knot holes/large voids that you use each for?

My wood has no through holes, just a few spekles sap lines and knot holes (max diam 10mm) - would Megapoxy H be the best of the lot?

Lastly do you tint it black or leave it clear? I'm tending towards clear . .

    Thanks again for the advice,

    Ben

    Hi Ben
i use the 69 to fill large holes and splits
the Hx i use for the grain lines you mentioned, but make sure they dont go threw other side, if so tape or use 69 to fill underside
H rapid i use for final cracks that may appear before i apply sealer

How do you attach the top to the legs mate? Buttons or some other method? Do you expect much movement in the top slab over time?

This looks awesome by the way...

Asking because I will be doing a redgum slab table soon and just might ( ;-) ) have to steal some of your design ideas! Hope that's OK...
