A messy shed
Hi there,
I went to the shed before to take some photos of a project I started today, and got stuck there.... it was actually raining!! And didn't it sound good on the tin roof, has been ages since we had a real downpour. Even found a couple of leaks from the ridge, one right over my drill press.
So while I was there I took some snaps of the inside, just so you don't confuse me with one of those clean freaks.
The first is looking from my metal working bench down to the woodwork bench, and I mean 'down', as the slab slopes. My new welding bay is to the left, behind the hydraulic press, and is seperated from the wood area by a lined wall. (Metal lathe you can't see, its at my left shoulder.) Due to the mix of wood and metal, I don't grind inside the shed, and if the workpiece won't fit on the welding bench, I do it on the floor with barricades of fibro around.
Cheers,Andy Mac

The second shot is from the woodwork bench looking back the other way. I've cut off the right, so you can't see table and mitre saw, but they store next to the bandsaw.
Its pretty squeezy, and a number of tools are mobile, but I get by...

Hi Andy,
Good looking shed if you ask me, and I bet you know exactly where everything is. I can't claim to have a shed any where near as tidy as yours but I do understand about the 'not enough room to swing a cat' type work space. You do seem to have crammed a fair bit of gear in ther though. Well done.
Cheers

Maaate
Its a palace, don't knock it.
I got 3.00m x 2.20m. However bad you think it you got it, there's always someone worse - me!
Jesus, you could hold a dance party in there.
One thing I should add, is that a tiny shed imposes a rigid discipline upon one. There's no room to leave things lying around, nor even let the shavings accumulate - I once lost a small dog that way.Bodgy

Andy,
Nice pics,
Three things you got that I ain't are
1) A press - jees they're bloody handy, I use the one at work all the time.
2) One of those big farm vices, always had the hankering for one of those.
3) space , my shed is 3.6 x 5.4.
Oh yeah and a compressor, that would be handy!
Cheers

Doesn't the Code of Practice say only one chair in the shed? I noticed two!
If you can do it - Do it! If you can't do it - Try it!
Do both well!

Hi Andy,
Great looking shed. Looks like you could get lost in there for hours (if your lucky) The rain was nice last night, been a long time since I've heard it.
Sorry Bodgy, always someone worse off than you, my shed is 3.0M by 1.5M Just got to have smaller tools. Cheers, Joe.

Hi Andy,
Have to agree with WB - I think your shed is tidier/cleaner than when I last visited too
I reckon the second chair is for little visitors so they don't get lost or hurt. Even I could get lost in there for a few hours
Yep, the rain on the roof was lovely, even turned down the telly just to listen to the rain instead.
cheers

Thanks guys,
Glad you enjoyed the virtual visit to my shed! I enjoy being in there, although my wife thinks I spend too much time hidden away...but ain't that the way it is!
Yes Rowan, I did have a clean up, the detritus from the last 3 projects is back where it sort of belongs.
I'd have more room except we've still got boxes of household stuff unpacked since the last move (2 yrs ago!!? ...should be binned as we haven't missed it!) and its taking up a quarter of my floor space.
That tacky '60's painting was a shed warming present (and the bugger gave me another very similar when he saw I'd actually hung it!), my girls dubbed her "Mrs Tarzan".
The compressor is just visible in both photos, but its not parked where I want it...soon to be housed in a corner and 'hard wired' to the reel.
The leg vice I scored on auction from the in-law's Moree farm when it sold, and was seriously bent and missing both the spring and bench fitting hardware. I made it mobile and sees a lot of use. I drag it outside on that truck rim whenever I need to hold something for grinding, as per my initial post.
Cheers,Andy Mac
