Default Mickey Mouse Fantasia Kids Room

The thread from Andraax regarding a Dragon theme for his daugters room prompted me to post this. It was a collaberation between me and my sister-inlaw for my 8 year old nephew. Its based on Fantasia and Mickey`s - Masters Apprentice. I made the easy part the Bunk and she painted the hard part, the mural

First photo shows the easy part- the bunk i built.

Second photo shows from under the bunk looking back - you can see the whirlpool on the floor and Mickey in the left corner.

Next photo shows the floor from the bunk, the whirl-pool looks stunning. You can see the central heating vent- good for proportion.

And last but not least an amazing painting of Mickey. That painting fills the whole wall . What a great kids room. My sis-inlaw is very talented with the brush

Yup I love the idea of well done theme rooms for kids.....................Anything that sparks a bit of imagination in kids is a winner and it looks like you and your sister in law have delivered the goods

Bet there will be many moments in faryland casting spells and fueling the imagination for those entering the room .......................... what a great kids gift!!!

    .........Well done!!!

    Hi Lignum!

That's really brilliant. The paint work is fantastic; I'd guess that any kid would just love it. A refresh (new images, etc) might be a bit challenging though

I knew a girl in Johannesburg who made her living from doing faux marble with paint and from small to full-wall size Trompe L'Oeil - some amazing stuff.

The below isn't hers - I, regrettably don't have any pictures of her work, but use this as an example:

    Just painted on a wall.

Great stuff Lignum - the kids must be blown away by it! Closest thing we got to a room theme when I was a kid was one of the mates getting permission to paint his own room - picked gloss black for the whole thing - furniture, ceiling....:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Wow, Lignum - that's one lucky little boy! I doubt he'd want to leave too much mess on the floor, either - or he'd cover up the painting!

With talent like that, I'm sure a repaint in another theme later on would be fun - just having a 3D canvas like that would be a dream!

    Cheers,

    Jill

It is rooms like this that make me wish we were not renting - owners would freak out if we did this.

Hence the reaon for the dragon bed.

Neil He loves it so much, but its the adults that seem to be the ones who realy love it most. The big kid in us never leaves, but way to often we are to scared to let it out... Grow up will you... is a term that springs to mind Thats one of the reasons i got such a buzz being involved with it, just to let loose and have fun. Mickey Mouse is about two meters tall and just looks awsome. Id love to build more fantasy kids rooms, even for big kids like myself
