Narrowcase Clock
Here is my new narrowcase (Grandmother) clock.Just finished in Tasmanian Blackwood,Hermle triple chime movement with mooving moon dial.
About 12 years ago I was asked to build a clock the 'image1' clock. This one is made in figured Tas blackwood no moon dial, square doors.Over the years I have made minor changes eg adding curved top door and moon dials, turnings on the side, slightly different mouldings.I have made about 10 of this style clock.I also have a complete new clock that I drew up the plans for, from scratch. You can see that clock also here on the forum under woodwork pictures.
Originally I had the customer's plan but now I go off my clock plan I drew up (off the original). The finish is furniture lacquer ,Mirrortone,60%gloss.The figured clock I Linseed oiled.
The movements I buy through the 'Hermle' dealer here in Tassie.Hermle is going through some big changes just now so I hope they will still make many variations in the dials and weight shells??? Thanks for your questions,I will be happy to answer more.Last edited by tazchris; 29th July 2006 at 02:39 PM. Reason: adding more pictures

Hi RazChris,
That looks very, very nice indeed!
Would put a guess on the number of hours that you spend on each clock?

Lovely work!
I have often noticed in clocks like this that the arch in the door is not made to follow the same arc as the arch in the dial. Is this a particular clockmaker's convention?

Hi Chis!
Your clocks are getting better and better! I love these two! Like the arch, too. Very classy work.
