    Smile novice pen maker

G'day all, hope you're all having a restful time.

SWMBO's eldest grandson (15) Matt, gives little inexpensive gifts to the women and kids of the extended family each xmas. He does metalwork at school and hates it. So in his spare time? at school this year he made some pens to give away. Everyone was suitably impressed so I thought i'd post a pic. It's his first effort and it's birdseye myrtle. It doesn't have a finish yet but i might hit it with the shellawax and EEE. (is this ok to do?).
If you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

There's some nice colour in that timber. Yum!

Shellawax/EEE is OK, I use it for my "quicky" pens, however it's best left for a week or two afterwards before handling otherwise it mattes off really quickly. It's not the most durable finish, but it's one of the easiest to apply.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
