Thanks for all the kind comments and encouragement. I think the design worked out well, but the execution could have been much better. in particular some lessons that i learned are: the grain matching in the pannels could have been much better, and the wood in the posts and headboard and footboard should have been more uniform. and as swmbo says, all the figure and spalting may be "just too much! I mean, isn't a bed supposed to be relaxing?" and I tend to agree.

You've exceeded even yourself there mate! One could fall into that grain. My initial thoughts were 'too much' too, but, if you've got it, get it out there - no-one else anywhere will have a bed just like that. Love it.
The design has a good balance too.
