Outdoor Setting WIP
In the midst of an outdoor setting. Will consist of a double seater bench (pictured), two single seater chairs and a small table. Based on two chairs I made over ten years ago.
Will post more pics as soon as the other units are knocked up.

Looking good!!
That is A robust looking seat and I like the way you have used wider pieces of timber.
And for the finish.......??

Thanks artme.
Have yet to decide in full on finish. Will be reproducible units for sale so customers will be able to choose from raw or colours of their choosing. This batch are primarily for display purposes so I won't do anything overly radical. Thinking of merbau toned decking finish on bench slats and motif, with a neutral solid colour for the remainder (perhaps along the lines of a colourbond Jasper or Paperbark). Will most likely choose something altogether different at the last minute though so we'll have to wait and see.

Quick update.
Both single seater chairs knocked up aswell now (will post pics over weekend). Have also finalised design for the small table and ready to start on it.
Re finish, I decided on Jasper colour exterior paint to bulk of frames with Charcoal stain to slats, armrests and a couple of other feature details.

Very nicely done Craig. Looks like there's a touch of Adirondack flavour in your design.

Have now settled on the finish.
First off, I sprayed the table frame with two coats of acrylic exterior low sheen jasper. Came off the gun well and cured for a more than satisfactory finish. Looked great, however, when I sat the stained top back on (done in three coats of charcoal tint exterior oil), the unit lacked life and had all of a sudden taken on an army surplus look.

So...back onto the gun and hit it with two coats of acrylic exterior satin paperbark. Again, came off the gun well and cured as good as my earlier effort. Dropped the top back on and hey presto, very happy indeed.
Once I'd completed the reassembly I was delighted yet again. The colours now set off against each other beautifully and achieve an impressive contrast. The timbers have now been brought to life with it's character coming through better than I had hoped.

Colour scheme now decided on, I can now apply it to the bench and chairs. Very excited about seeing them all finished and set up together.

How did the finish go

Nothing to report so far. A combination of good old Melbourne weather (I do my spraying outside) and me not feeling flash has put the brakes on it. Next week isn't looking that bad at the moment, so hope to give it a final kick in the guts then.
