Outfeed table for Table saw
I finally got tired of the roller stand as outfeed support when cutting long boards.
I built this simple outfeed table for my table saw.
There isn't much space in the shed so I needed to be able to fold it out of the way when not in use.
The top is a half sheet of mdf with grooves for the sled runners.
The support leg is hinged to fold up but I need something smarted to get in to the centre. The table height is more than the depth of the table so I couldn't hinge it from the front. My plan is to have an adjustable leg so it will fit when either up or down.
The top has a couple of coats of estapol to keep it smooth and protect it. A laminex top would be better and I might use it when I need to replace this one.
It works fine and makes it much easier and safer when ripping long boards.Scally

Why not another drop down leg to cover the far corner of the table. Would that then elimate the need to have a center support. May not have to be as wide as the existing one.

Almost identical to mine Scally but I used my adjustable roller to hold up the table. Works fine.

Support ideas
Kev, I am sick of my adjustable roller getting in the way.
I am sure it would work fine but my limited work space is a pain. It always seems to be in the way or getting knocked over.
Christos, you're right, a smaller leg on the other side would work. I'll have a look.
The current one is easy to hold when you put the table up and down. I might need too much coordination for an extra leg!
My thoughts were something like the one in the pic attached.
The rail across the back would give extra support/stiffness to the table too.
I like the locking mechanism but it probably isn't necessary.
The only drawback is that I would have to slide the adjuster foot everytime I put the table up or down. No big deal...I'm just being lazy and would like to keep it as simple as possible.
I'll have a play on the weekend.Scally

Outfeed upgrade
I did replace the support leg for the outfeed.
The bolts allow easy adjustment of the height of the outfeed and lets the leg fold away when the outfeed is lowered.
The next annoyance is the space between the rails to the right of the saw table.
Especially when trying to saw thin sheets of ply. It wants to drop below the fence.
My local hardware store has solid doors for about $100. The core is laminated pine and the skins are ply. I cut a section the size of the gap. My plan was to use the holes in the metal rails on the saw table. Unfortunately the table section sat too high on the rails to use them.
The alternative was to screw support rails to the table saw rails.
This worked fine once I set the right for the infill to be level with the table saw top.
It sits in nice and firm so I haven't fixed it to the rails yet.
I gave it a good sand and a coat of Danish oil. This gives a good smooth surface and should help keep it clean.Scally

Thats what I need to do infill that space its a PITA at times
Another option for the extension table leg is a gate style leg, an adjustable foot is not hard to make with some thread and nuts plus a washer or two....................................................................

Just a thought from left field - I see that you have a mobile base - it just came to mind that if the support leg were attached to the mobile frame then you would have a constant for the leg to reference on should you shift it or should there be a heap of sawdust etc on the floor when you set the outfeed up.
Just a thought, regards,
Bob

The infill has made it much more enjoyable to use the tablesaw.
It is a good place to rest pieces before and after sawing.
Much more convenient to use.
I forgot to put up a pic of my adjustable support for the outfeed table.
A bolt with aknow makes it easy to tighten or fold the table out of the way.
It is much more stable than the original side support.
The sawtable is much better to use now.
Next I should put a leg at the end of the infill table. With the saw on a mobile base it can tip if I put too much weight on the far end. It's not a big problem just a small drawback with the mobile base.Scally
