Thread: Pallet coffee table

What sorts of woods are your pallets made of? The stain made a nice result.

Nothing quite so well built here = the worst of the worst of the SPF (might be spruce/Picea, might be pine/Pinus, might be fir/Abies).
Pick it up and expect at least one board to fall off from poor nailing.
I use them for back garden work tables instead of grovelling on the ground with projects.
4 2x4 legs canted out 15* and they stay out in the WX until they rot.

This made out of hardwood, some sort of gum probably.

The table came out great, people underestimate the good old pallet. A man after my own heart I like to recycle for two reasons 1 it,s cheap or even better free wood and 2 it is wasteful to keep throwing good stuff away.

I like using old pallets, but most of mine are broken up de-nailed then used. Unfortunately most are soft type woods, I have one at the moment that it very heavy I must sort it out and see what wood it is made from as it is very heavy I think the goods that were transported on it originated from India

I get all my pallets free from Bunnings. They do throw out the occasional hardwood one.

Rustic and recycled. Far too much goes to the tip, so well done.

Quintessential Aussie furniture

For winter home heating, I run a Harman wood pellet stove. Each ton of pellets arrives as 50 x 40lb bags on a fresh/clean/new pallet.
This winter past, burned 4.5 tons (9,000lbs/4,091kg). Two choices: can stack them with others at the transfer station for others to use
or make useful tables & benches. 10+ years is a lot of pallets to ponder. New translucent roof coming on the lean-to at the back of the garden shed
so I'll keep this lot for hot house benches.
Over the years here in WWF, I've been given all sorts of inspiration to reuse them in some form. Thank you all.
