    Default Another pallet table

Hi all, put this together to see if it would work.

    Nicely done.

Always good to see recycled timber used. I wonder if we could see how you did the legs?

Me too! I'd like to see the leg attachment. The layout of the top is
an interesting surface to look at. Good.

I live in the land of fresh new pallets. I get about 5 per winter, with 1-ton
loads of compressed wood pellets for winter heating.
The pallets are all assembled with spiral nails. In efforts to take the pallets apart,
the nails either pull through the wood or break the ends off the boards. I had the idea
that the distinctive nail holes might add to any design at all.

I've even tried my "pile driver" nail puller, just to see the heads break off the nails.

I'd like to hear from the pallet surgeons.
How do you dissect a pallet with a clean result?

Nice job. The pattern on top looks good, & I'd like to see how the legs were attached. I like their layout.

RV, the last pallet I dismantled (American oak mainly) also had spiral nails. I found that the only way to get the nails out was to cut the cross pieces either side of the nails, then use a claw hammer directly on the nails. Most came out OK. For the next ones, I'm looking at trying the device posted by someone here, consisting of a two-pronged fork. The shaped prongs go under the cross pieces and are levered up. I'll see if I can find the pic that was posted.

    Works for me.
What you say & what people hear are not always the same thing.

Thanks, AlexS: I do believe that I'd need to bust up 3 pallets to recover the equivalent of one which came apart easily.
Somewhere, I have a design for a tall, 8-legged stool-like table upon which to set a large potted plant.

Very rare up here to see a fresh pallet made of anything but SPF (could be spruce, could be pine, could be fir).
Their breeding grounds must be nearby.

Thanks for those pics Tdrumnut. That's like the one I was thinking of, but simpler.

...and made using a Triton workbench?

Makes me even more keen to drag mine out and get using it. It won't happen for another 6 months though as I am too busy doing the house up for sale

The legs I cut with the Triton, top was cut on a drop saw, bit tricky getting the lengths right.

Looks good to me, I was thinking that it couldn't be much simpler and be strong enough to do the job.

You were wondering if it would work.

I would say it works fine.

    Nice job.

    Bob
