    Default Pallett -> Boxes

    A friend gave me the remnants of a pallett a machine arrived on. After cutting off the waste and thicknessing to 10mm (from 20mm, very rough sawn) I had sufficient timber left to make these. They are for the workshop and the nail holes won't be filled. Finish is a BLO, wax and turps mix.

    Length varies from 600mm to 200mm, but most are 100mm wide by 80mm high.

    Nice recycling -- pine I assume?

    What will you be using the long, narrow boxes for? Just curious.
    Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

    It is some sort of imported pine. It smells like a recycled ships dunny seat but has an interesting orange tinge to the grain in places.

    Ummm, long, narrow things....

    They are really just hold alls and will probably be purloined by the missus who is already making a move on them. The length is mainly so they reach to the back of the cupboard they will sit in and the space will not be wasted.

    The squarish box is designed to fit in the rack near my TS to hold the bits and pieces for the Incra mitre gauge.

    You've been listening to that old story about the timber sniffer, haven't you?

    Questions to Groggy....
    Did you have any problems with thicknessing the stuff?? I haven't been game to try it as pallet timber always seems to have been impregnated with gravel and crud somehow!!!!
    What is BLO??:confused:
    Where did you really make them?? That shed is way to clean to have been used for anything!!!
