    Default pedestal

hi all just thought i would post these few pics of the pedestal i just completed.got the plans from woodsmith/time life book.it was a pain in the ass making it in imperial.i would definitely go metric on anything else i may make from the books.timber is qld maple.top is a loose insertmade up of cedar frame, poplar, qld maple & swiss pearmake up the parquetry (dont look at that too closely).finished it with first 3 coats were 2 part satinproof,2 part tung oil 1 part turps,& some boiled linseed oil.after 3 coats looked crap, so dull. so last 2 coats were 3 parts satinproof 1 part tung oil & just a little turps to thin it out.am not sure if i like it though. all i gotta do now is find somewhere to put it.

    Looks great mate woof.

Shame to put anything on top of it especially a pot plant, water stains etc.

Nice cat trap in the backgound? The cat comes to play goes inside and slam hey? Clever.

    looks good.
I've got the same books but am thinking that before I attempt to make anything from them that I will convert the imperial measurements to metric.
