    Default Phone Table WIP

Not much to tell really, it's mostly made out of hoop pine except for the shelf which is mdf with a piece of hoop attached to the front. Probably gonna finish it off with some clear poly.

Pieces all laid out on the bench (also made of hoop) with my poor mans belt sander setup.

Dry fit. Since then I've decided to M&T the legs into the top.

Made a little progress during the day. Had some troubles dowelling the joints, that's why there's so many clamps used
The small piece of wood is just being used to keep the legs parallel.

    Sides glued up...

Now ready for a final sand and to apply a finish (and a test run).

Hi Hadamona, a beautiful result! I love the simple, clean lines, it's understated elegance, and extreme usefulness. Have you already thought "what did we do before the table came to be here?"

    cheers Wendy

Agree with Ruffly: very nice unit. Where does the phone go?

What were your troubles with the dowel joints. I'm a bit of a fan of dowels, so I'm interested in learning from others experiences.

What about a hinged door on the front: a knob at the top and the door opening downwards?

zenwood: the phone just sits on top, it's one of those cordless types, I could've mounted it to the wall but it would have looked ugly. As for the dowel joint problem, I just had so much trouble getting the holes perfectly aligned and straight (very hard without a drill press) I thought about putting on a door of some sort, maybe I will in MkII Thanks for the comments.

This is with a 2nd coat of Cabots crystal clear satin.

I use an Ozzie jig to do all my dowel joints. You get perfect accuracy every time.
