Default Red Gum, Jarrah, QLD Maple and Silky Oak work box

Another work box in figured Red Gum, with a Jarrah lid panel and QLD Maple lid border. The tray is made from highly figured Silky Oak.
    The box is 485mm x 240mm x 200mm
The finish is burnished Scandinavian Oil. The hinges and handles are imported English brass.

You can probably tell from the shadows that the Palms at the front door need trimming!

    Regards,

    Rob

Nice work Rob. What do you intend to put in the work box?

    Rob,

A real credit, a fine chest. Well done!

Can I ask the dimensions and source of your quadrant hinges?

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi Andy,
In Victorian times before Plasma TV's , women would sit in the drawing room and sew or embroider or quilt and patchwork. To keep their work safe and in one place, they had a work box, which contained the piece they were working on, scissors and cottons. These boxes I am making are a revisit to this Victorian idea and have been taken well by people doing these crafts.
I also make stands for them to sit on. Here's some pics of one in Jarrah with a Jarrah stand. You can see the lip around the edge of the stand (table) and the shelf underneath.

    Regards,

    Rob
