Maloof Style Pedestal with Glass Top
G'day
I tried to make a Maloof style pedestal, but put a glass top on it. I like the idea of the glass top. I can see all the table while sitting at it.
The wood used was Black Walnut, with an Ash inlay to add strength to the legs.
The legs are mitred, and joined with 4 domino's in each mitre (32 in total).
The legs are joined to the centre pedestal via a dado along its entire length.
All the shaping was done by hand, with a rasp, and sanded up to #600.
The finish is Osmo PolyX
Cheers!

That is a great looking table.
Was it tricky getting the base to fit together?Scally

I like it. Great choice of timber for this project. Well done!

The base went together quite easily. I mitered, dominoed and glued the legs together. I then shaped them roughly on the bandsaw, and went to the router table and cleaned it up, following a template.
I routed the dado's out of the centre base, then made the sliding tenons on the legs.
I did a lot of shaping with a rasp before I glued it all together. I glued each leg on one at a time, to avoid things getting out of hand
Cheers!
