Dear mate
I don't know what to say in english so I will translate from hebrew:
I wish, you will not know sorrow anymore.
Beautiful way to honor your father, may he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear about your father mkemila. The box is truely a beautiful way to honor him.
I lost my father a couple of years back and I feel for you. I have quite a few of my fathers old tools and its almost like I can hear him still saying "get that lined up properly before you start" sort of thing every time I use one. I am sure, as you worked together on woodwork together, everytime you make something you will think of him. This may be hard at first, but in time I have found it nice to think of him as still looking over my shoulder.

I am also sorry for your loss, and impressed with your tribute & the heart and healing behind it. AND everyone's touching responses. It is nice that his memory will live on in his loving family.
All the best,
Jill

Beautiful work and a beautiful sentiment,
It sounds like you were very close to your father as I was. My father died 30 years ago this year and, since we were mates as well, I still think of him often and even recently restored his old handsaws. He has become, as yours might to you, my wordworking conscience. You know the sort of thing, you've cut 4 pieces to be mitred together to form a frame, 1 of them is a poofteenth shorter than the others and you 'just know' that an extra turn of the clamp will pull it all together .... well, it's his voice that says with exasperation "CUT ANOTHER ONE!"
Condolences to you and your family and be assured that, for good blokes, the pain turns to memories, to respect and eventually to laughter, Fletty

My sincere condolences to you and your family. Using the timber you were saving for something special would make him very happy I'm sure.

Thank you for all your thoughts and nice comments. I am grateful to my father for guiding me into woodworking and giving me the ability to build his urn. The main reason I posted the picture was to perhaps give others ideas, I can think of no finer tribute to someone special than transfering your thoughts of them into woodworking. I don't know if that will make sense to anyone as I don't really know how to properly put it to words. Again thank you all for your kind thoughts and words
