First project in Oz
Hi guys and gals,
Wanted to introduce myself here instead of the special thread which is up somewhere in the forum. I came to Australia to study about 7 years ago from one big well known eastern-european country. While my work has nothing to do with woodworking, I find myself tempted from time to time to do something from wood. This was one of the first projects I did here. The table was made pretty much without power tools except for a jigsaw and a sander. All burl cutting, shell cutting, shaping, sanding was done with hand tools only. Recently I have renovated it a bit, and used a router to round some edges.
Here are some photos...
Cheers,
Ilya

Welcome! That's a beautiful table. Is that Mallee burl? Well done!

Thanks guys! I am ashamed, but I am not sure what most of the wood in this table is The burl is Mallee. Bought it at the first WWW show in Canberra 6 years ago. I was so impressed by the variety of timber that is available here!
PS. The shells are just polished abalones.Last edited by Ilya; 23rd November 2008 at 06:51 PM. Reason: added more info

Amazing!
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.
