    Default Quick'n'cheap chess-board

Another fruitful weekend. Finally managed to eyeball 's lathe (and he really is an axe-wielding mongrel... gotta be to use that ginormous beastie  ) and also gave the last rub of wax to a pressie for the ol' man.

Top is simply radiata & jarrah veneers on a 6mm MDF sub-structure, the rest is plain old radiata given a hand-mixed stain. (Jarrah & Rosewood... don't ask. ) Finished with Danish, EEE and wax for a matt look, as it'll be handled a fair bit. All components straight from the scrap-bin, apart from the knobs; by my estimate it cost me all of $10-, including power usage.

(Edit: also just noticed that this is post is the 1/4 mark to my first 5,000 posts. Woohoo! Avinagoodweekend! )

The colours look good Skew, are you going to be making the chess pieces?

    No, I think I'll take a rain-check on the chess-men.

Our wood-turning club had an exercise wherein all members turned a few pieces so the club had a set for displays... and I quickly discovered that copy-turning is not my forte.
