    Default Recent turnings

    HI ya'all, some recent turnings and pic of the messiest workshop/verandah around....

    the single spindle one is bluegum,multiple spindles have purpleheart with ash shaft, redgum, haory oak, banksia, myrtle and others spindle stand is rosewood, the 'knob scuplture' in SI rosewood9from a 4 inch block) a request from my 15 year old son to impress his bandmates..adolsecents...

    I know I am going to regret this ... how was the knob sculpture going to impress the spotty ones - does he thik it is a 1:1 scale model of his knob, or is it that his Dad is so cool that he will do this for him (or so square that he doesn't realise what he is doing) or that his Dad is seriously talented with wood?

    The last would be pretty good (and accurate - I like the turnings), but as you said "adolescents". Just preparing for the time when mine starts asking for things like that....

    haha yes, u will love it, we mad eit thorugh drumsticks, clubs and small weaponry, that shape is a good way of showing off the grain and its easy and fun to turn, i guess its just a paper weight...type of thing..i think i have gained a bit of cool credibility with the teenagers..which is fine by me,..

    Joe, burnishing at high speed will fine blunt sand paper...just burns and smokes....
