Red Gum and Huon Pine "bits and bobs" box
I really began wood working in 2005/6 in a one car carport in Eaglemont. I learn't as I went, which is quite obvious in some of my work, particularly the early stuff. I wanted to do everything at once.
This is one of my early boxes and was pretty much the first job where I used finger joints (done on a Leigh D4R jig).
Anyway, the upshot of this is that I made it, oiled it with Wattyl Scandinavian Oil and thought it was the "ducks nuts". It was around for about two weeks before my wife arrived home ans said, "One of my colleagues is moving back to Ireland, to look after her ailing mother. I want t give her a gift that says Australia." And nothing says OZ more than Red Gum and Huon Pine."
So the box went to Belfast and was a gift for the ailing mother. Unfortunately, there's only one pic left after a hard drive snapped it's brain.
