Default Small Redgum table...floating figured top

    Hi all,

Just finished this small table (maybe lamp table or small hall table?) and thought I'd share some pics. Design is a mix of other ideas and fitting the timber I had. Joinery is all dominoed. Legs started life on the side of the road are tapered slightly on both inside edges, aprons sit about 6mm above legs and top sits 6mm above aprons. Top is beveled back in towards aprons and has some nice figure in it. Finished is FW scandavian oil.

    Cheers
    Redgy

Nothing quite like old recycled red gum for colour.

Here at 53N, there are no softwoods or hardwoods, such as birch, alder, poplar or cottonwood,
which explode with figurative grain so pleasing to the eye. Our wood is so BLAH.
I would expect to see a table like that in a top-end interior design shop for $3k minimum,
I'll bet it sells in a week. $4k in maybe a month, but you'd get it.

Great work Redgy, it's amazing what you can find inside some old wooden posts, and the grain in that top is beautiful.

Beautiful table. The top looks sensational.

I love nothing more than getting some crappy looking piece of recycled redgum and waiting in anticipation as some of that typical redgum figure pops out after a run through the planer removes the grey weathered exterior.

    One of my favourite timbers.

    Fantastic job

Love the design, and that timber is just awesome. Well worth the effort if you can produce something like that from recycled timber.
