Refinished Hand Planer
Here is the before picture of the planer
Here are the after pictures ^-^ I basically just kinda took off all the rust, sharpened the blade(its good and sharp just ask my finger!), I refinished the handles and such to make it look better.

Good job, sport!
You got the cap (I think that's what you call the locking thingy) up very nicely, that always beats me.
Restoring planes is so satisfying particularly if you get the original for a few $. I often browse the new planes in the Homemaker stores, usually modern crap for $120+ and feel quite superior. It's an unusual feeling for me.
Another interesting thing is that no-one really seems to believe a chisel or iron is sharp until they manage to draw blood. Bit like touching the fence when you see the "Wet Paint' sign I guess.

lol I got this planer for free, it was my grandpas. He passed away like two years ago and yea. I refinished this for my boyfriend since he is a carpenter and he will make better use of it rather than it sitting in a garage. lol. And the weather >_> actually quite mild but it is getting colder lol.

Hi Tourniquet!
Fine job on that nice old Falcon - well done.
Cheers!
PS: a hint: planes should always be rested on a small scrap of timber under the toe when place upright on a flat surface - unless the iron is fully retracted - else much unnecessary sharpening will ensue.
Also, welcome here to the Aussie (wood)nut house

Nice job on that plane. You're so lucky to have your grandfather's tools. Guard them with your life (and enjoy using them). I remember my grandfather had a whole workshop fitted out with tools, and I inherited not a single one of them.

Hmm just read you've given the plane to your boyfriend. Hope he's a keeper. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Yea I didnt really inherit his tools, though I should probably do a clean sweep of his work shop and perhaps see what he has lol, something useful might be there. My dad actually found the planer in grandpas work shop from me so yea. And yea Cody is a keeper. lol.
