    Default Restored engineering/drill press vice

(Not exactly woodwork, but it's something I use on a drill press when doing woodwork so I figure it kinda counts )

Dad's manky old vice needed some TLC so I thought I'd clean it up for him.

I left it in a bath of molasses/water rust removing solution for about a week then took to it with wire brushes to get all the crud out. He welds with it a lot so I thought I'd try a coat of hi-temp paint (which I baked on) but I don't think it's going to last long. Lastly I gave it a wee rub with some lanolin just for good measure as where he keeps it is partially exposed to the elements.

I also replaced a couple of missing/broken parts and fixed the problem of it only winding in one direction laterally.

well done, I love restoring old machinery & watching other so so.

My nephew is really good at it, something he learned from my brotherinlaw no doubt. He has restored stuff I don't thing he has ever used. He is really good at hand planes.

    Well done.
