rocking horse
At last it's done! Ended up getting the hair from a lady who organises wigs for dolls. It's lovely. Have made my own bridle etc from leather and brass, and will make the saddle when my daughter is big enough to climb on more easily. Bought the GMC lathe to make the spindles - first bit of turning I've done, very steep learning curve.

Looks fantastic Channa! The littl'un will be stoked with that. Great job.
Watch out for that lathe - they're horribly addictive!

Very nice Channa. Very nice.
Is it laminated ply?

Thanks guys. Yes, it is laminated ply. the body sections are vertical, then there is a 10 degree wedge running the length of the body to make the legs flare out, and the legs and muscle blocks attach to these.
My duaghter can climb onto it, but isn't big enough to get it rocking yet. Can't wait...Judge not lest you're judging yourself

The laminated ply comes up a treat. I like the "isopleth" look that the ply adds to the design.

What's left to say? Apart from "Wow!" and "Wish it was here."

G'Day Channa
That's VERY impressive. The effect of the laminated ply is striking. I can imagine the pride in your daughters voice as she tells her friends "My Dad made this"...when her kids are playing on it!
You've already inspire me to try something using laminated timber. I can assure you that the first project won't be quite that ambitions though!
Well done mate (sorry...well done Bro)
regards
