    Default Router table fence

    Hey guys,

Thought i'd show you guys the fence i built for my router table. The router table is simply the router wing on my 10HB. the fence is held in place using the existing holes on the wing. Its made from 16mm MDF.

I have used it a few times and i am very happy with it. Very easy to adjust and use, and the duct extraction is awesome!! it sucks everything up!

    Cheers

    Looks great.
But I have to say that I am now turning to a simpler arrangement after watching Bob and Rick on the Woodworking Channel (Router Workshop). They always us very simple fences held in place by clamps. Roger Gifkins advocates these as well. I currently use a Triton Table and fence, but intend to move to a much simpler but far more accurate type of fence. Happy to be swayed otherwise.

    Regards

In all seriousness - give the Incra system a look - it's accuracy & repeatability is quite impressive. And not just for joints either.

Hi Stuart. Yes you are right. If I wanted the precision then I would definately go for the Incras system(s). BTW, I have just received the DVD on their products. Remarkable.

Looks good, can I ask why you just didn't attach it to your saw fence?

    Clamps can slip,

I have a big scar on my left thumb to prove it when I lived near Portland. back in 92.

Cut to the bone, rang the hospital at portland.
Sorry no quacks here in emergency they all went to the footy.
So I taped it up, it stopped bleeding.
So I let it heal by itself.
Smarted a wee bit for a little while.
Since then all my router fences are bolted down.
    Regards, Bob Thomas

    looks great!

dust extraction looks like an excellent idea, one i may have to copy

sorry for the dumb question, but could a simlar design be used on a table saw effectively in your opinion?

im looking at improving the fence on my tablesaw and just collecting some ideas at the moment.

well i think the main difficulty with using that design would be ensuring that fence remained parallel to the saw blade. Due to the way routers cut, that is not an important factor in my case.

    Cheers guys!
