    Ryan

That is absolutely first class work. Be very proud.

Be aware, too, that you are only half-way there. A rocking chair for mum ..... and a rocking horse for the GIT (Galoot-in-training).

    Regards from Perth

    Thanks Everyone!

Slight hijack here - on 'The Collectors' last night, there was an antique piece that had been passed down through the family of the original owner, and each owner & their family had signed the piece. Not a bad idea I reckon - I trust you signed your chair Ryan, & you should suggest it to your family as they get older
Alex, Funny you say that. I did put my stamp on it (like in my avatar) and asked my wife to sign it. she was embarrased though and politely refused.

Nice one Ryan. I especially like the figure in the front legs. Did you use a router to round over & shape or did you try your hand with the spoke shaves?
Thaks Mate. no router for me. all hand tools.

I was planing to build one in few years time but I think I will do it sooner. (That’s assuming I am capable for the job of course.)
Scott my brother, I KNOW you're more than capable

Thanks again to everyone for all the kind words . the truth is that Rocker deserves most of the credit. his sense of aesthetics and construction are unparalleled.

Ryan: gorgeous. A very well executed and attractive chair. Speaks out in a mellow husky voice, "sit on me...". Nice choice of timber and finish, crisp details and well-faired curves. Greeny from me.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

They say that if one wishes to learn woodwork, they should build a chair. This chair looks like the work of a master. I love pretty much everything about the design (apologies to the designer) - the timber choice is exquisite and really celebrates the design. You should be truly proud of your work. This is the reason shows like New Yaknee Workshop and This Old House are of such great impoprtance, so we are inspired to stretch ourselves.

    well done!

Everyone else pinched the good words that would fit here . Bugger all else you can say when confronted with something like this.

A wonderful piece of workmanship, terrific use of timber, great plans.

I dunno that sounds a little pathetic to describe what you've done.

Well done Ryan. A true Craftsman you are, as a Fireman you make a bloody good Fine Woodworker. Must be the Aussie design (Rocker's) and all the Aussie T shirts, caps, etc you have been wearing lately that have made you so good ))
I know your Wife and little one will spend many pleasant hours in the chair.

    Best wishes,
    Mick.

Very true...and if someone wants to learn some new words, they should listen to someone building a chair.

Your head is goning to be so big from all these post you'll have to add some weight to the front of the rocker to keep rfrom tipping over backwards. Again great job.

....what the others said Ryan. A smile maker for sure. I've only received the plans recently. If my current record stands, I will finish the chair by about 2012 . I envy you your productivity! Keep it up mate
