scaffold boards
Im new to this forum but looking through some old chats(chessboard, impossible objects) I will use this site alot. Just wanted to show you what I have made from scaffold boards. Im proud because Im not skilled or trained, havent got a workshop, had to use the kitchen table and floor and havent got any special tools(had to use a jig saw upside down for the table)

Nice work! It reminds me of starting out with pieces clamped to our balcony railing because I didn't have a bench and only a few hand tools. Its great training and keeps you from becoming a slave to the how-to books.
How did you make the pattern on the tabletop?

Welcome to the site KD,
Very good going for a basic tool kit. Just shows it is not how many tools you have but what you can do with them that counts. If you keep at this woodwork lark the tool collection soon grows.
Regards
John

Solid looking work. Looks realy good. I have a question for you KD how did you get the centre peice on the table. It could almost pass for an inlay.

It was tricky because on my first attempt tried to get a piece to fit but couldnt get an excat fit so what I had to do was use a jigsaw on its side, the blade was horizontal and slowly bring it down into the wood. The outer bits are planed and the middle is just sanded, no paint used.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Nice work.

Very nice work. It reminds me of when I first started out I made a fire surround out of scaffold boards. I stained it Mahogany and put tons of varnish on it for the finish. I even made a jig for the lathe to make flutes for the columns. It was still in place five years later. Sturdy wood those scaffold boards. Well done, look forward to your future projects.

Welcome.
Great bookcase. You wont have any problem with the shelves sagging.
It looks good on the big plain wall.Scally
