Scored
Hi, I went & bought some timber the other week, & scored some solid bits of pine & 3 nice bits of ply off their rubbish heap.
The fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Good for you.
I never go in the front door first. Always, always, go around the back to see what they have lying in the heap.
What they were from, I haven't a clue, but I scored 2 pcs mahogany, 3" x 4" x 48". Nightmare tangled grain but lathe tools do cope nicely with that.

Yes, there is something about a good score.
I don't use a lot of ply, & I would like to have some on hand to build jigs etc, so this will come in handy. I am also building a chopping block at the moment & while the cost is not really a factor for this small job, the principal is. The pine will be used to make legs.
I am a great believer that buying timber to make a chopping block / cutting board is redonkulous. It's the perfect excuse to use up offcuts & short bits etc.
The Pine for this came from a building site & the Jarrah was an old floor joist

Nice score Ticky, and that cutting board looks brilliant.
The time we enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

That is down right pretty. I can imagine _all_ of my kitchen counter space done up like that.

Thanks fella's
It was an idea that came to me & I thought it was worth a try.
Its still not finished, needs a bit more sanding & then prolly a paraffin oil finish, but I recon it will come up nice.

Good to get a score, i went to a place one to buy 1 sheet of ply, guy said we have some marked stuff if you interested...i went and had a look...one edge of the pack had been damaged by a forklift.....$5 a sheet....i took the lot, came home and ran them through the saw taking off 100mm, got my sheet and sold the rest of the pack in the trading post for $20 a sheet
