    Default Scrap Knife Block

I am setting up a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program at school so had to buy a heap of knives for use in the kitchen. The next problem was storing them in a safe manner that would not dull the blades. A few scraps and an hour (I did have to leave it over night before finishing tonight) in the shed saw this emerge. I think it will suit Stephanie Alexander's idea of a "homestyle" kitchen nicely.

I will have to get the kids to glue up a heap of other scrap to make some cutting boards to go with it

    nice one looks good
question? how stable is it ?
my experience with kids and cooking are clumsy noisy knocking things over if the slots dont allow great enough angle to pull out will the unit be pulled over
of course if handed out by teacher no probs
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

It is plenty stable, used it today. Knives live with the teacher and are issued on request.

Gees at my school we used to bring our own knives/chains/nun-chukas/etc. Must be a tough school if the teachers hand 'em out!!

    Very Nice.

Might borrow the idea. Or at least part of it.

    Thumbs up

Well done Burnsy. Goo to see that the knives are correctly stored in that unit.
