Looks great Pete, love the timber you used. Have to see if I can find some of that here.

Looks great Pete! You have the patience of a saint cutting that out of 19mm redgum. What type of blade and what size did you use? Are you going to put a backer on it? Doesn't any fretwork look better cut from solid timbers - nice work!
Regards
Tikki

thanks for the comments guys
Tikki it wasnt that hard and no no backer on this 1. To cut it out I used 1 & a bit FD No 3 spiral reverse blade and it was like going through butter (well almost) took about 2-3 hrs to cut it out.

Great work Pete, keep it up mate!
Doesn't redgum look fantastic all cleaned up?! I'm getting good results sanding it to 400g and using Danish Oil, brings out the grain beautifully.
Guys, if the Delta saw I've mentioned before (forgotten the model, 40-540?) is on sale at the WW show this weekend I'll need help with excuses for the bride when I bring one home....help me out with a script???? Working on the "easier to get forgiveness than permission" theory...
Cheers.............Sean

Could you get away with claiming you won it as a raffle or door prize?
Perhaps you need to find a pattern of something you can make for her and tell her it would be much simpler to make on this new saw ... plus tell her it was on Sale, seems to be enough justification for them to buy clothes and shoes when they are on saleBrett

Sean I usually rin the ROS over it before I apply the pattern and I go down to a fine grade (600) prob overkill but it works for me ...more time than sense I guess.
re the dewalt ....np there m8 just put it int the corner of the shed and put a bit of dust around it when swambo sees it just say 'that ol thing I bought that ages ago and forgot I had it'
failing that buy it then take her out for a subway with all the trimmings (coke cookie etc)

Good ideas one & all.
Not sure the budget stretches to such extravagences as Pete suggests though, some people just splash the money around with gay abandon, don't they?!
I think a combo of the sale angle, a dash of pleasured guilt look, and a personalised gift created on said machine (with appropriate enthusing about the capabilities of it) will be the trick.
Or follow hovo's lead & just sneak it into the shed...
cheers.........Sean
