My Share of the Tassie Blackwood
A while ago a few of us from this forum shared a load of tasmanian blackwood.
Thankyou "Tasman".
Well I have finally finished the project for SWMBO.
She likes it.

I particuliary like the way you have raised it off the floor a few inches.I have done the same thing with a couple of blanket boxes that i've made and it gives them another dimension I think.

Excellent job! Looks as good as one purchased from a reputable Furniture store in Richmond, Melbourne.
What finish did you use?
Do you think the handles on the door's are a little too low?I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Well done. Love the timber.

Beautifully made, Al. I envy your proximity to the source of blackwood, but not your winters

Thanks for the Replies
Yes I agree the door handles are a bit low.
The finish is organoil using wet and dry paper up starting at 220 continuing to 2000 grit and then organoil wax.
The draws were taken from the one board I would like to take credit but it was my mate Snows idea.
I did use a bit of stain on the face frame due to the large variation in the timber I had available to darken it a little.
I now need to find some more Blackwood as SWMBO wants a matching dining table.
