I decided not to put the DC and power in the slab. Its laid on sand 600mm thick and the plumber and concreter reckoned it's just as easy to drill hols in the slab where I want power or DC outlets and then access the holes from under the slab through the sand.

    Default The Shed Fairy

    Hi Sheddy

Good job on the slab, any self-respecting machinery would be glad of good solid foundations.

Now if you can just get that same Shed Fairy to whack the shed up for you.........

    Cheers

    Default Another Shed Update

Got the first portal side up today. I'm knackered. Will get the other 3 up and the purlins and girts done over the next 2 or 3 days. The idiot with the hat is an idiot....

    Default Frame standing

    G'day all
Rained here today so took it easy in the shed (cleaning a nice Stanley #4 that was given to me out of the blue).
After some dramas on Tuesday (bloody gale force winds) we managed to get he remaining three portals up. A neighbour gave a welcome hand after we lost control of the third portal.
Anyway next 2 days fixing the remaining purlins and girts, doors, windows and roller door frames. Hopefully will get started on the wall cladding Sunday.
    Cheers
PS: The shed fits perfectly on the slab... its the old story, measure, measure, measure. Particulalry the diagonals.

Got the makings of a fine looking shed there..... keep up with the photos won't you. Can't wait to see it with your gear in place. What are you planning for a fire? I put in a big used log burner almost brand new for next to nothing (real fires are no longer environmentally legal in built-up areas here so they go cheap) - what an asset! Best regards

OMG: pic 2 looks like a candidate for the disaster-waiting-to-happen award.

Look after yourself Shedhand: that concrete floor would be a hard landing, and we want to see you make plenty of stuff in that shed.

The ladder is very safe. You can't see them but there are 4 off 150 x 50 Oregon planks set up between the three 50mm pipe carry bars. And any way its not me up there its the SIL and he's just completed a height safety certificate.

Tiger snakes yes, but as for the other that's Melbourne. dreariest place in Oz between april and october The only good thing to ever come out of Victoria was my Grandfather (an engineer, inventor, poet and damn fine cabinet maker).
Got my chainsaw prepared. Every time I see a stupid Greenie I fire it up just to them go psycho... .

    Default Further progress

    Another milestone today.
Got all the bracing on and tensioned. Squared her up beautifully.
Clad the back wall and the workshop side wall.
    I'm all Tek screwed out.
I haven't worked this hard for 15 years.
Will clad another side over the next 2 days (no labourer so have to wait for SWMBOATT to get home from work). I'm glad we have daylight saving cos I can work until about 8.30. But I get to spend an hour in the spa bath then
Hopefully the guttering and roof go on next weekend.
    Cheers

Well done Mate! Very interesting thread to follow. Love the size of your shed too. Reminds me of when I built mine - I thought it was more than big enough - Until I put some machinery in it etc. Only half the size of yours though.

Keep the piccys and story going please.

    Mick.
