I hope he gets back in there and is able to kick some of those machines into action again soon.
I wish my dad had a vice/interest that I could share in a lot more than bloody boer goats and fruiting orchard..... mind you the orchard just might give me some cool timber eventually!

Nice tour TTIT, I just love the ambience of the place. So many problems solved in such a place, so much satisfaction achieved, so much potential timber, and I can hear the wood whispering from here!

Not sure what you call it. Heavy duty blade slides back and forth on the old style 'pin-on-a-wheel' action -like the drive rods on a steam train! Not quite as fast as these fan-dangled cut-off saws but a hell of a lot quieter!
More memories for the kids than me - I grew up around his engineering business in Vic. He moved north after I had bolted to prepare for retiring to his woodwork. When my kids smell Camphor the first thing they say is "smells like Pop's shed".
You should try being there - it ROARS!

Thanks for sharing this, TTIT! He sure is an inspiration, and I hope that he gets well enough again to use it. Do you have photos of any of his work that you could share? Amazing that he is into so many aspects of wood and metal work, too! Some of these old guys (and some younger!) have so much knowledge & skills gained over a lifetime - shame that the most they can pass on is a little of it & the inspiration.
Cheers,
Jill

What an amazing collection of tools and memories there mate. I like many have said, hope that your dad gets better and can still enjoy some shed time. After seeing his collection then I have a hell of a lot of catching up to do. His wood collection is inspirring to say the least.
Dave,

What a great shed to retreat to, and the machinery he can be proud of. Shows that with a bit of nous, time and perserverance one can make, well, anything! Best wishes on his recovery so he can get back in the shed.
