small silky tray
I have just finished this silky oak tray made from the plans in a woodsmith mag. The oak is recycled from the dump and looking at the style of finish that was on it, and the timber it was with, I would say that it was at least 50 years old.
Anyway it was really only a project to practice my lap joints and fitups. Not a fastener in sight, only glue.
Finished with 2 coats of danish oil and planing on another couple to try to bring up the lustre.Check my facebook:rhbtimber

Lovely work! Very neat lap joins! I can just see a pair of fine bone china tea cups, a pretty teapot and those tiny cucumber sandwiches, you know, the ones you are supposed to eat with your little finger sticking out....
In other words, Very Classy!
Cheers
