    Default Something different

Jasmin is getting more and more independent these days. She no longer wants my help to get on the rocking horse. She would step on a chair but it looked pretty awkward and dangerous.

As a good father I decided to make her something stronger. Starting with a rough idea and after cutting one leg too long by accident , this is what I came up with. The drawers are for her craftwork.

Wood: Studley’s hardwood, iroko and kauri pine.
Finish: 2 coats of Danish oil and ub trad wax.

Mother of invention it is. Well done I bet she uses it and you still get a bit 'antsy' when she is wearing socks to mount her charge!!!

You a good dad mate keep up the good work.

Its called a mounting block - very popular with the height challenged horsey set, but theirs are not so posh.

So Wongo, are you going to build a stable in the back yard in a few years, or maybe lease one of the vacant paddocks down on the river bank for her first pony? Unfortunately you are a few years too late to get a freeby - the friends with horses had to move to a smaller property, so they only have goats now.

Nice piece, Wongo. You love making silk purses out of sow's ears (el cheapo wood).
In a few years, when the kids no longer need a mounting block, it would look great on a stand with fine legs.

    Scott,

Your handiwork is really on display there, but we seem to have missed the cutest part which is your daughter. They're great at that age, still think dad's wonderful and a delight to have around. That horse and the steps (drawers) look pretty good to.

    Cheers, John.

Till they get to their teens and then he will be stopping her from doing the things that she wants to do.
And when she threatens to leave home all you will have to do is put a pair of wheels on and she can drag it behind her.

Scott you do think outside the square, great job.
