Shed, as Dai Sensei said, its great to hear that you're amongst the smell of wood again not to mention the forrest in the background.

Making something both practical and functional is always a pleasure on completion and you've done yourself proud mate.

Just come back from Tassie ,spent some time with the BIL in Electrona south of Hobart chucked me a slice of Native Cherry ..flamin' near ripped me arms off helluva heavy that stuff is.Regretfully had to leave it behind it would have put me well in excess of baggage weight.
Man ya gotta love the range of Tassie timbers, envy what you have some of the most figurative timber here in OZ.Think I'll drive over and load up

    Cheers

Mike, good looking chair. How about the King Billy and Huon Letterbox you made . . .

How are the boxes coming along?

Great looking chair but how much for the view? I'll take 10!

There's a small trout filled river down there among the trees. Very tasty too.

The letterbox is still doing its job and getting a nice weathered patina. Will oil it soon. Box components acclimatising nicely. Only 2 panels have warped but have some stuff to replace them with. Gonna alternate between chairs and boxes. Gives my really stuffed lower back a break. Bending over the router table, even though it's the perfect height for me, is damn back-breaking. Anyone want to buy some arthritis of the hips. I can sell you them cheap.
Hope you enjoyed your trip down here.
    Cheers

Oddly enough, no! Theres not a Kapex cut, Trion cut, rout or a domie in it. Cut all the components (apart from docking to length on the table saw) on my bandsaw, shot the edges with my restored #6 Stanley plane (the darkside bit- and the sound of those shavings whishing up thru the frog-mouth was bliss), sanded and arissed with the Festool 150/3 using 120 grit. Pretty simple to make once all the cuts are made. Now I have templates I can easily make 2 a day if was so inclined or was over-run with orders for them (one can only dream ) If I had one of those sexy bandsaw jigs like you have I could save even more time.

Sheesh Huon for an outdoor chair - at the prices they charge at the WWW shows I might be better off buying the chair from you and ripping it up

    Nice chair though

Nice work, shedhand. Good to see you back.

Agree the price sounds low, I'd start around $300 and see how it goes - you can always discount.

I made one about 8 years ago from western red cedar. Very light, good resistance to water, finished with deck oil. So far, I've re-oiled it twice and it's still holding up very well.

Thanks Tex. Hmm, I hadn't considered WRC. Have to see if its available locally in the dimensions I need. I know WRC weatherboards are available, be a tad flimsey made of those tho... .

This link ( being a retailer selling adirondeck chairs in Melbourne) may help you in setting pricing etc.

    Default Adirondack chair update.

Just updating progress on my little enterprise.
Sold 3 so far - $175 ea (seemed what the market would bear). I've designed an extension that also can be used as a drinks table with magazine rack or stool as well as a lounge extension.
I think I've got a buyer for as many as I can make. Reckons they're cheaper and better than the Asian imports. I'll flat pack them with screws and instructions.

Looks good, hope they go well. You sure the apprentice isn't the boss?
