Nice stool. You said you can't put your feet flat on the floor when using the stool. Of course we're all different, but I find that very uncomfortable when playing. I built my guitar stool with no rails and tall enough so I can place my feet flat on the floor. I place my right foot on a block of rigid foam. Mine's also upholstered because I start to squirm after sitting on a wooden stool for a while.

Sorry yes my feet can be flat on the floor while sitting of the stool. I use the rail for my right foot and my left foot moves from the floor or a rail depending on how long I'm playing for. I hear you about the wooden stool seat and when I make the next stool it will have a upholstered and foam seat.
