    Default Street number plaques

    Hello,
Here are a couple of things I've recently made, the first being one for our place, then someone ordered one for themselves after seeing it! Theirs will be suspended from a country mailbox but I snapped it on our front wall. They are made using numbered tiles from a Mexican import shop, which I've sunk into a routed slot and silastic-ed into place. Hopefully any movement in the timber won't crack the tiles! The timber is treated spotted gum, offcuts from steps, and I've sawn a bevel all round on the tablesaw. The scrollwork is pretty basic, 10 and 12mm flat, cold worked on a scroll form and final shaping on scrolling forks in the vice...no forge work here! MIG welded together. Basic matt black paint for the steel and China oil finish on the wood.

    Cheers

Lovely work, I think I like '90' out of the two as there is a but more timber to see on that one.

Great work Andy. It inspires me to do something with the hand made portuguese tiles that I have had for 12 years and my wife keeps asking when am I going to put them up.

    Cheers
