Great job Sturdee - I'm very envious.

    Greetings from Vancouver!

Mate, it's hard to believe that this is the same shed you showed me a few months back. I must confess that when you said you were going to convert it into a finishing room, I was not impressed - shows my lack of foresight I guess.

Well done Peter; now get back in your shop and make some more jigs!

Well done Sturdee, it is something to be proud of.

It has come even further since I last saw it.

    Default Update

It is now 3 months since my previous posts and during this time I have used it to restore 2 old coffee tables and made a start on restoring our bedroom suite. This suite is modular and consists of 2 four-drawer units, 2 two-drawer units, 2 corner units, 2 spacer units and a large bedhead. I have stripped and french polished about a quarter of it.

Very quickly I realised I needed extra task lighting and I installed 3 adjustable lamps on the shelf behind the main worktable. I also build a large portable lazy susan type turntable. Very handy for doing a table leg base. Both can be seen in the first photo.

I also found that I needed an extra lower worktable. I built one using two old fold up sawhorses and fixed a set of wheels at one end. This will allow me to either fold it up and place it against the wall and out of the way or wheel it to the main workshop to use as a low level assembly table. See photos 2 and 3.

The final photo is of the main storage shelf and bench.

Conclusion – Although building this shed was more expensive than I first estimated it is a very valuable addition to my workshop facilities. It is a pleasure to be able to do some french polishing and then leave it until the next opportunity without having to clean and pack up every time.

My only regret is that I did not do this years ago when I first erected the shed solely for storage of paint etc. And the paint is stored in it anyway.

    Al,

Instead of restoring it did you want me to sell it to you as junk  and then buy it back a couple weeks later as an antique?

I think he means he'll collect it for a small fee, then sell it back to you as a rare and engangered specimen in need of minor repair!!

Great work on the shed BTW!

I don't need a finishing shed of course, 'CAUSE I NEVER FINISH ANYTHING!!

Maybe the lack of the shed is my problem...I feel another project coming on!!

    Cheers.
