Thanks To Major For His Chair Design
I'Ve just finished 8 chairs to Majors design just modified a little bit - I beefed up the side rails so that the loose tenons connecting them to the front rail could be horizontal (more long grain to long grain)and I laminated the slats rather than make them from the solid . It' a bit hard for us Mexicans to obtain to obtain the silver ash in the sizes that you guys in FNQ can .The tenons were done using the Domino. The chairs were finished with 2 coats of Mirosol sanding sealer and 4 coats of Mirosol PC3220/60.
The chairs are for my daughter and she opted to use the same seat covering as the originals - she reckons that they looked pretty good .
Once again , thanks Major for for a simple elegant design

Peter,
You did well; I think the laminated backslats and the beefed-up side rails are an improvement on an already excellent design.

Making 8 chairs is a big job.
They look very impressive and the matching top back rail with that big knot is a great touch.
Congratulations.Scally

Hi Peter,
A lot of effort but what a result. !!
Would love to see some Work in Progress shots of the table when you get started.
The table to match those chairs is going to be a beauty. No pressure mind, but we are expecting great things.
Cheers
