Default Timber and rice paper lamps

    Hey guys,
Been making these Australian Red Cedar lamps (100mm thick) in different shapes and sizes - wipe on poly finish. The shades are silk screen printed on rice paper.
Had a good response at an art show.

    TH they look great.
Bit concerned about the Rice Paper over heating though.

    Hey Ray,
Claw and I did try and see if we could get flames out of it - or smoke even using incandescent lamps - but still fine. We are using a fluro lamp and it has an inner acrylic tube - does not get hot.

    Fantastic!
Maybe a case where these new fangeled compact flouros will be an advantage. Longer shape and cooler running.

    Hi Hugh,
Yes, there is almost zero heat on the paper. Good for this kind of job where you can't see the ugly globe.

Tack has been a little modest here, she sold 4 or 5 of these at our art exhibition (at 500 a pop). Tack hand sketches the original graphic, very detailed, some ornate and some very plane. She then screen priints them onto the rice paper, they then get some small detailed hand colouring and put together. The 100 mm thick Aust Red Cedar blocks make beautiful bases with a top quality brass lamp holder they come up realy sweet.Jezz that must earn me some brownie points

    Tack,
Don't you dare put those artistic fingers anywhere near a router! Leave that to the less artistic ones .... like Claw
I hope to see the gallery next time I'm passing. Stunning work!
