    Default Toy Box

I got this commission to make a toy box for my niece. She wanted it to be big and slatted with gas rams on the lid. This is what I came up with.

I was going to frame it up and screw the slats on the outside, but that seemed to be to much work, so I opted to go the mortise path, anyway, 168 mortises later this is the result. The struts are 300 long open and 120 newtons which were a little too strong for the light pine lid, hence the extra weight to make them work properly.

    All comments welcome

It's perfectly fine, nice and I'm seeing that you put much hardwork for it. But I suggest to add some little "girly designs" . Your niece will surely love it

Top job Robert on the Toy Box.....
Yes those gas struts maths / placement can be an issue, but yours looks great...
    Cheers, crowie

PS - How about a link in the Toymaking section for your toy box???

    Looks good Robert.

Why instead of all those mortise didn't you just do one cut/router and cut small inserts/spacers for between slats

You may need to warn that 8 legged critters can access it easier.
