Thread: A new toy for my son

I thought you might be interested in a toy I recently finished that hangs in my son's bedroom. Three pictures are attached (I apologise for the quality but the thing was moving at the time!)
The woodwork content was pretty easy (once I got a new blade into the scroll saw, and remembered to take care that all of the holes are exactly perpendicular.)
The real trick is setting it up so that the strings wind evenly on the axle and the clowns swing freely on their axles as the strings unwind - I haven't shown the big top canopy that the strings are attached to. It is also cut from 1/8 inch plywood and painted and in turn hangs from the ceiling.
The really gratifying moment came after it was installed and Robbie ran up to his grandfather, took him by the hand and ran with him into his bedroom saying " Look what Dad made for me, Grandfather!"
